❝STEP 1

집에 뭔가를 새로 구입한 경험에 대해 이야기해 주세요.

몇 년 전 새 아파트로 이사하면서 가구를 새로 구입했던 기억이 난다. 더 큰 소파를 원해서 소파를 새로 구입했다. 쿠션 몇 개가 있는 4인용 소파를 샀다. 그리고 식탁과 의자 몇 개를 샀다. 옷방에 놓을 서랍장도 새로 구입했다. 거실에 가구들을 몇 차례 재배치해서 가장 좋은 위치를 잡았다. 베란다에 놓을 새로운 화분도 들였다. 그리고 액자를 몇 개 구입해서 복도 벽면에 걸어 두었다. 거실에 놓을 텔레비전과 에어컨도 구매했다.

 

❝Talk about when you brought new things for your home.

I remember getting some new furniture when I moved into my new apartment a few years ago. I purchased a new sofa because I wanted a larger couch. I bought a four-seater couch that had some cushions on it. Plus, I got a new dining table and some chairs. I also bought a new dresser for my dressing room. I rearranged the furniture in the living room several times to find the best setting. Plus, I got some new plants for the balcony. I also bought some pictures and put them up on the wall in the hallway. I also got a new television and a new AC for the living room.

가구를 재배치하는데 시간이 제법 오래 걸렸다.

 

3. put something up on the wall ~을 벽에 걸다

▪I bought some pictures and put them up on the wall in the hallway.

액자를 몇 개 구입해서 복도 벽면에 걸어 두었다.

집을 새단장한 경험에 대해 이야기 해 주세요.

몇 년 전에 아파트를 새단장했던 기억이 난다. 먼저 인테리어 회사와 상담을 했다. 내가 바꾸고 싶은 부분에 대해 말하고 견적을 받았다. 가장 먼저 거실 벽지와 바닥을 다시 했다. 벽지가 오래되기도 했고, 분위기를 바꾸고 싶은 마음도 있었다. 또한, 안방에 커튼을 다시 하고 다른 방들에 블라인드도 다시 했다. 화장실 타일도 교체했다. 새단장이 끝나고 나니 집이 완전히 새 집처럼 보였다. 새로운 모습에 매우 흡족했다. 돈을 쓴 것이 아깝지 않았다.

 

❝Talk about when you renovated your home.

I remember renovating my apartment a few years ago. I first consulted with an interior design company. I told them what I wanted to change and got a quote. First, I had them redo the wallpaper and the floors in the living room, They were getting old and I wanted to change the mood. Plus, I had them redo the curtains in the master bedroom and the blinds in the other bedrooms. I also had them redo the tiles in the bathroom. After the renovation, my home looked brand new. I was very happy with the new look. It was worth the money I spent.

2. redo the wallpaper 도배를 다시 하다

벽지와 바닥을 다시 하게 했다.

▪I wish the landlady would redo the wallpaper before we move in.

우리가 입주하기 전에 집주인이 도배를 다시 했으면 좋겠다.

▪It takes at least a full day to redo the wallpaper.

도배를 다시 하는 데 적어도 하루가 꼬박 걸렸다.

 

3. look brand new 완전히 새 것처럼 보이다

▪After the renovation, my home looked brand new.

새단장이 끝나고 나니 집이 완전히 새 집처럼 보였다.

▪The shirt looked brand new after I washed it.

빨고 나니 셔츠가 완전히 새것처럼 보였다.

▪The jacket will look brand new if you get it dry-cleaned.

드라이클리닝을 맡기면 재킷이 완전히 새것처럼 보일 거야.

❝They repainted the buildings.

건물 도색을 다시 했어요.

 

A : Are these apartments newly-built? They look brand new.

B : No, I think they were built a long time ago.

A : But, how do they look so new?

B : I guess they repainted the buildings.

 

A : 이 아파트 새로 지은 건가? 완전히 새것처럼 보여.

B : 아니, 오래 전에 지은 건물들 같아.

A : 그런데 어떻게 새것처럼 보이지?

B : 건물 도색을 다시 한 것 같아.

 

▍Homework

1. 가구를 재배치하기로 마음먹었어. (rearrange the furniture)
